Examination procedures for hair surgery (Operation Templates)

In this text we will discuss the usage of Operational templates named:

🔹pre-OP: Hair check, Donor Capacity, and Control Spot Tracking

🔹Operation: FUE wounds check, Incisions check

🔹post-OP: FUE wounds check, Clinical Imaging, Control Spot Tracking

🔷Pre- OP (before operation)

Pre-OP template is to be used right before the hair surgery on a shaved patient. It is divided in three sections:

  • Hair check

  • Donor Capacity

  • Control Spot Tracking (optional*)

🔹pre-OP ➡️ Hair Check

🎯Goal:

It is a quick check of donor quality (hair density & caliber, FU statistics) after shaving the patient for the operation. Verification of safe donor area – ensure the donor does not extend to androgen affected areas. Document the choice of donor scope/size with a set of micro + overview image pairs.

⚙️Possible processing:

Immediate detection of hair in live-view mode and images after registration (with manual correction option)

🔹pre-OP ➡️ Donor Capacity

🎯Goal:

Precise evaluation of donor capacity after shaving the patient and sketching the areas on the patient’s scalp.

Donor subdivided into 5 parts: 2x temporal, 2x parietal, occipital.

Measure the recipient area (cm2) sketched on patient’s shaved scalp.

Collect clinical photos & trichoscopy documentation for track record.

⚙️Possible processing:

Donor and recipient areas (in cm2) were measured with the clinical images. After combination with the trichoscopy data in Transplanner – allows for donor capacity evaluation and the estimation of graft count for optimal recipient coverage.

🔹pre-OP ➡️ Control Spot Tracking (optional*)

🎯Goal:

Track a selected spot in the donor and in the recipient using the Hair-to-Hair matching technology This is to be used in combination with images of the same spots taken after the operation and subsequently after the healing process.

Finding the same spots in subsequent examinations with the Tattoo, the SMP marker or TrichoLAB Spot Template + Virtual Tattoo.

⚙️Possible processing:

To be submitted and processed in the LAB. No local processing is possible.

Pre-Operation - Control Spot Tracking - Donor (1min)



🔷Operation

Operation procedure consists of: FUE wounds check, Incisions check. Below is a short description of the mentioned templates, mainly when & how to use them.

🔹Operation ➡️ FUE wounds check

🎯Goal:

To be used on patient’s donor area during the operation, right after FUE harvesting.

Check the harvesting density and average size of the FUE wounds.

Photo documentation of harvesting.

⚙️Possible processing:

Automated detection of FUE punches (with manual correction option). Automated wound area calculation.

FUE Wounds Check (2min)

🔹Operation ➡️ Incisions check

🎯Goal:

To be used on the patient’s scalp during the operation, after making the incisions and dyeing them with methylene blue. Verification of the incision density. Photo documentation of recipient spots.

⚙️Possible processing:

Automated detection of incisions with manual correction option.

🔷post-OP (after operation)

Post Operation procedures consist of:

  • FUE wounds check,

  • Clinical Imaging,

  • Control Spot Tracking (optional*)

🔹Operation ➡️ FUE wounds check

🎯Goal:

Check the average size of the FUE wounds during the healing process

Photo documentation of wound healing.

⚙️Possible processing:

Automated detection of FUE punches (with manual correction option). Automated wound area calculation.

🔹post-OP ➡️ Clinical Imaging

🎯Goal:

Clinical photo documentation of the operated areas for track record.

⚙️Possible processing:

Visual comparison with pre-op or post-healing images

🔹post-OP ➡️ Control Spot Tracking (optional *)

🎯Goal:

Track a selected spot in the donor and in the recipient using the Hair-to-Hair matching technology. To be used in combination with images of the same spots taken before the operation and subsequently – follow-up after the healing process. Finding the same spots in subsequent examinations with the Tattoo, the SMP marker or TrichoLAB Spot Template + Virtual Tattoo.
