The following online training is designed for doctors, nurses, and medical photographers involved in consultations with potential hair transplantation patients.
The procedure varies slightly depending on hair length (clipped vs. long) but generally includes two main phases: 3D Scanning and Consultation. The Scanning phase, which can be conducted by a nurse or assistant, focuses on 3D scanning and Trichoscopy. Below, we outline the details of each stage using Studio 3D LITE.
Please carefully watch the following videos. Ensure your sound is on, and activate subtitles if needed by clicking the [cc] button.
Part 1: Scanning & Trichoscopy
Before starting the scan, prepare the patient:
Ensure the following:
Glasses are removed
➡️The patient must remove glasses before scanning.Forehead and hairline are fully visible
➡️If necessary, use a hairband to move the hair away from the face.Ears are exposed
➡️Tuck the hair behind the ears.Neck is fully visible
➡️ If the patient has long hair, tie it up in a high bun.
➡️ Remove collared shirts or fold the collar down so the neck remains fully visible.

Part 2: Patient Consultation
Once the scanning phase is complete, move on to the patient Consultation.
The Consultation may be performed by the doctor using the studio computer, or on a different computer in a dedicated consultation room. The consultation is usually based on the results of patient’s examination (3Dscan + trichoscopy). However, one can also use just the 3D transplanner and an abstract puppet to explain the key principles and challenges of hair transplantation.
