If the pictures in the examination are so bad that our analysts are not able to extract correct data and prepare reliable statistics, then we reject the examination.

Overall feedback:

In trichoscopy, 4 micro images are taken. If one of them is of worse quality, analysts can further use the other 3 to extract correct data. If all the photos are, for example, blurred, there is no parting, there is a lot of hair passing through the image - the photos do not allow analysis - we are forced to reject such a study. TrichoLAB gives you technical feedback on each analyzed image.

🟩GREEN frame - the image is good.

🟨YELLOW frame - the image is not perfect - read the comments.

🟥RED frame - image could not be processed.

In addition, under each image, there is an indication of what is the reason for the color other than green, e.g. poor parting line, Photo out of focus....

To make a perfect picture you need to focus on these 3 aspects:

  1. Parting line

The parting line should be in the center of each photo and should run horizontally (from left to right side.) Then we can see at least two times more follicular units in each picture.
For a good parting line please use a rat-tail comb.

  2. Focused images

The camera should be pressed with its entire surface against the patient's scalp, After pressing the trigger button, please wait 2-3 seconds before moving the camera - this will avoid blurred images.

With good-quality pictures, we are able to properly measure parameters such as hair shaft thickness.

  3. Crossing hair

Avoid hair that does not belong to the field of view (during the examination, these hairs are marked in orange/ yellow). These hairs are covering the scalp with follicular units -> in a result we are not able to provide proper statistics, because the subject of the measurements is covered.

With gray hair, by definition, it will be more difficult, because it is less visible - with them you need to be even more precise, sometimes we recommend dying hair before the examination to make it more visible.

How to make a good parting line - creating a parting line, holding hair with your fingers and comb, pressing the camera
