A trichogram is a procedure that helps you to monitor the anagen and telogen ratio on your patient's scalp. The first photo is taken right after clipping, the next after about two days.
It is important to clip the hair to a height of about 0.4-0.6 mm. Make sure that all the hair in the area where you are taking the picture is clipped and of the same length.
The examination consists of two parts:
1. Just after clipping
2. After regrowth (about 48h)

🔷Preparation - hair clipping
During the first visit, you have to clip the patients hair.
The clipped area should not be smaller than 2cm x 1,5cm (big enough to place the camera lens in the clipped area)
We recommend having an electric razor with an adjustable clipping length. The length you clip is less than 1 mm. Clipped hair length should be about 0.4-0.6 mm.
The hair should be cut evenly.
Hair that is too long will be impossible to measure - its ends will go beyond the field of view.
Too short hair may not be detected by the software - as a result, you may have problems with finding the Virtual Tattoo.
Clipping the test area
To clean the patient's scalp you can use adhesive tape - it collects the clipped pieces of hair well and does not leave material fibers on the scalp.
📌Important: hair must be contrasting (i.e., dark hair against light skin.) If your patient has light - blond or gray hair, we recommend dyeing it. If the hair is not clearly visible, the system will not detect it, so Virtual Tattoo will not work at the regrowth photo.

🟥The software highlights in red hairs that are significantly longer than others. Then move the camera a bit to a different test area or shave the hair again - be careful not to shave too much.
🟨 In yellow are marked hairs that go beyond the measurement area (edge of the photo)
🔷 After regrow
After about 48 hours - finish the examination. (It doesn't have to be exactly 48h, it can be a few hours earlier or later - important: the gap cannot be too long.) If the hair is too long, it will cover each other, and a large part of the hair will go beyond the test area - making it impossible to measure.
Our software will help you to position the camera well and find the same place.
In the upper right corner of Live View you have 2 lines (they look like a clock.) They tell you about the direction of the hair. Try to position the camera so that the lines overlap (then they will change from red and blue to green) - this means that the direction of the hair now is the same as on the first picture.
With help of Virtual Tattoo - find the same place as in the first picture. Follow the red and blue circles. Wait until the green circles fill up completely and the photo will be taken automatically.
Then you can "save and upload" the images to TrichoLAB - then within 7 days we will prepare a report with statistics for you or you can "save only" and analyze it locally (If you have Local Processing license)
🔷 Results
You will get charts divided into anagen and telogen about hair thickness and grow rate, and the rest of the hair statistics shown in the image below.
